Study Plan
Plan a book, course, video series or practice project by calendar date and unit. Opening Study Plan answers what to study today and what pace you need to finish on time.
Create a plan
Choose Manage → Study Plan... in desktop or web Lexicon, or Study Plan in Android’s Manage drawer section. Use Add to enter an item name, an optional Group before Type, unit, first and last unit, start and end date, weekdays, and an optional note. Enter dates in the web client as YYYY-MM-DD. The item name and Group are free text; neither needs to match an existing Lexicon item or item group. Both dates count as study days when their weekdays are selected.
Types are Book, Course, Lesson, Documentation, Article, Video, Practice and Other. Units are Page, Lesson, Chapter, Section, Module, Video, Exercise, Minute and Other. Choosing Other for the unit also asks for a label such as kata. The unit range includes both endpoints; pages 101–300 contain 200 units.
Tick the weekdays you intend to study. A Monday–Friday plan has five study days in a Monday–Sunday week, with no target on the weekend. Set Current progress to the last completed absolute unit number, or 0 when you have not started. For a range of pages 101–300, progress 145 means pages 101–145 are complete.
Today’s dashboard
Plans appear in Active, Upcoming and Finished sections. Each card shows current progress (the last unit actually completed), expected progress (the last unit the original schedule says should be complete by today), the difference, the expected unit range assigned specifically to today, a catch-up recommendation, planned pace, required pace and status. For pages 101–300, 120 scheduled completed pages mean expected progress is page 220, while today's expected range might be pages 211–220. Recommended today can start from a different page when you are behind. Available paces are shown to two decimal places; when units remain but no study days remain, required pace says N/A.
Use Update progress after studying. Mark today complete advances to at least today’s target only when it can advance progress, and never moves progress backwards. Mark plan complete fills the remaining range. Upcoming and finished plans remain available below the active plans, and deleting a plan asks for confirmation.
Progress states
- On track: completed at least the original cumulative target through today.
- Behind: below today’s target, but the required daily pace is at most 125% of the original pace.
- At risk: below target and finishing now requires more than 125% of the original pace, or no study days remain.
- Completed: the last unit is complete, including after the end date.
- Overdue: the end date has passed and units remain.
All active plans stay visible in the overview. In web and Android, Upcoming and Finished start collapsed; expand either section to search its full collection by title, Group or note and browse ten plans per page. On desktop, the overview contains active cards and the table starts with the Active filter. Choose Upcoming or Finished to browse those plans in pages of ten; All is paginated too. Each category keeps its own search and page during edits and progress updates. Upcoming plans are ordered by start date, and Finished by end date with the latest first. Finished includes both completed plans and unfinished plans past their deadline, which retain the Overdue status.
Study Plans travel with a whole-dictionary JSON export and are preserved by database backups.
